History of the Ranch Originally the ranch was located on my homestead on the Canadian/US border but I was always drawn to the valley. In 2007 I realized my dream and sold my homestead to my daughter Stacey and her husband Dusty and relocated my ranch to property purchased by my grandfather in 1907. Now located on the top of the valley I have the spectacular panoramic view I have always seen in my dreams. The name Medicine Line Ranch was chosen due to the history behind the name. In the early days of the nineteeth century the Native Americans referred to the border between Canada and the United States as the Medicine Line. Crossing the Medicine Line into Canada meant safety and the protection of the Queen Mother. Following the massacre at the Little Big Horn in Montana where Custer and his army lost their lives, Sitting Bull and his followers made there way to the Medicine Line eventually settling at Wood Mountain in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Being located in such close proximity to the border, Medicine Line Ranch seemed the obvious choice. |
